Faux Butterfly Display

These butterflies simulate the look of real ones without removing them from nature.

Materials:

life-size color pictures of butterflies
scissors
craft knife
thick card stock
spray adhesive
craft glue
fabric
shadow box frame
1/4" foam core board
straight pins

Steps:

  1. Photocopy butterfly images on a color copier onto card stock. Cut out images using scissors and a craft knife.
  2. Cut a piece of foam core to fit into frame. Cover it with fabric using spray adhesive.
  3. Arrange butterfly images on board as desired. Remove each and slightly bend the wings up for dimension. Attach them to the board using straight pins. Cut out or print the Latin names of the butterflies and glue them beneath each one for identification .
  4. Place foam inside frame.
